Privacy for a self-hosted media app

ReelFin connects to the Jellyfin server you choose, stores authentication material on-device, and avoids cross-app tracking. This page explains what the app processes, why it does so, and what options users have.

Information ReelFin Processes

  • Your Jellyfin server URL and app preferences, such as playback quality and streaming settings.
  • Your Jellyfin session token after sign-in so the app can authenticate requests to your server.
  • Library metadata returned by your Jellyfin server, including titles, artwork references, playback progress, cast information, and collection rows.
  • Optional crash diagnostics if Sentry is enabled by the publisher in a production build.

How Data Is Used

  • To sign you in to your Jellyfin server and keep the session active.
  • To render your library, continue-watching state, and playback context.
  • To support playback, subtitle selection, diagnostics, and sync behavior.
  • To investigate crashes and stability regressions when crash reporting is enabled.

Storage and Security

Authentication tokens are stored in Apple Keychain-backed secure storage. App settings, the last signed-in username, lightweight session state, cached artwork, and cached library metadata are stored on-device. ReelFin does not sell personal data and does not use data for cross-app tracking.

Retention

Signing out clears the stored sign-in session and deletes its token from Apple Keychain. Cached artwork and library metadata may remain until the cache is evicted or the app is removed. Apple Keychain items can survive app removal; sign out before removing ReelFin if you want it to delete its stored token. Your Jellyfin server controls its own account, token validity, playback history, and retention; you can revoke access on that server.

Third Parties

ReelFin communicates directly with the Jellyfin server configured by the user. If crash reporting is enabled by the publisher, limited crash and diagnostic events may be sent to Sentry.

Children

ReelFin is not designed for children and is not marketed as a kids app.

Your Choices

You can sign out at any time, remove the app, or contact support for help related to this policy. When optional crash reporting is enabled by the publisher, requests about diagnostic data or deletion may require coordination with Sentry according to that service's retention controls.

Quick summary

  • Tokens stay in Apple Keychain-backed secure storage.
  • Preferences and lightweight metadata remain on-device.
  • ReelFin is not built around advertising or cross-app tracking.
  • The Jellyfin server you connect to remains under your control.
